Hello awesome people. Welcome to another article about optimal food. These days we're encouraged to be more responsible in the name of health. Optimal food can help us have optimal health. Fortunately, we can find what’s optimal food with a simple test: - Would we eat this food in nature? Previous articles: [1](https://peakd.com/health/@askmihai/what-is-optimal-food), [2](https://peakd.com/health/@askmihai/what-is-optimal-food-2), [3](https://peakd.com/health/@askmihai/what-is-optimal-food-3), [4](https://peakd.com/health/@askmihai/what-is-optimal-food-4), Raw-vegan desserts are prtty popular as they’re delicious food. # How about raw-vegan desserts? It's pretty tempting to make delicious desserts without cooking: raw-vegan cakes, raw-vegan cookies, etc. No debate here. There are multiple delicious products out there on the market. However, the fact they’re delicious doesn't necessarily mean they're healthy, does it? What do raw-vegan desserts contain? The base consists of: nuts, seeds, dates. On top of this base, various recipes contain various other ingredients: coconut oil, cacao butter, cacao powder, etc. # How about seeds? You already know the role of seeds from part 1. Seeds don't want to be eaten. They want to survive, in order to ensure the reproduction of the plant. No wonder why almost all seeds aren’t edible. Even though sprouts and microgreens are popular, seeds are harder to digest than fruits, even in their germinated / sprouted form. Sprouting isn’t as lucrative as many people think it is. Nuts and seeds are extremely concentrated in fat. Our bodies don't need too much fat. When we eat to much concentrated fat (nuts, seeds), we exceed the fat need. More than enough fat is not better. You already know the effects of excess fat from a [previous](https://peakd.com/health/@askmihai/how-can-we-keep-our-health-simple-update-2) article. When we eat sugar (dates) and more than enough fat (seeds), we follow a recipe for high blood sugar (aka diabetes), as fat blocks the effect of insulin of bringing sugar to cells. So when optimal health is our goal, germs and sprouts wouldn't be part of our lifestyle. Eating them sparingly is better than eating them in large quantities and often. Raw-vegan desserts become more and more popular because they’re delicious. However, it's more about taste and less about optimal health. An effect of promoting these products is that people get inspired and they complicate themselves with foods that are not even healthy. When in fact they’re better off without these foods. When we share unhealthy foods, we can inspire people to make those foods, especially when they're delicious. We can avoid unhealthy inspiration when we’re mindful about what we share. Other popular raw-foods are dehydrated raw-foods. # How about dehydrated raw-foods? How many dehydrated foods are there in nature? I don't know and i don't think there are enough. So Why are they so popular? Foods made up with a dehydrator are pretty popular because they're presented as raw foods. E.g. raw crackers, raw-vegan bread, raw fruit chips, raw-vegan burgers, raw cookies. They are in fact raw food and they're similar to cooked foods regarding water content. The common lifestyle made up of processed foods is low in water, as processing removes water from food. Dry foods are not completely dry. E.g. oatmeal still have some water. Stool contains 75 % water, so dry foods have a dehydration effect as they need more water than they provide, to move through our digestive tract. After the dehydration process, some water remains in those foods. Still, How much water is there in those dry foods? i don't know and i don't think there is enough to allow them to pass through the digestive tract. No wonder why so many people are dehydrated. Regarding digestion, raw dried foods have a similar effect as cooked dried food: they dehydrate us. When there is as little as 2% dehydration, our brain won't work as well as in conditions of optimal hydration. What's the problem with foods that dehydrate us since we can just drink water? Here are more facts about our reality which is where we live: In the water we drink there are no individual water molecules. Water is made up of clusters of minimum 5 molecules. Even in spring water we have clusters of 25 - 35 molecules. Our optimal lifestyle is water-sufficient regarding digestion, as fruits give more water than they need for digestion. Plus, the water surplus from fruits is about 10 times more useful for hydration than drinking water, as the water in fruits is 5 to 6 molecules. The water in fruits have been purified by the plant to greater extent than the water in leaves. Because of that, in an optimal lifestyle we need less water than in the common lifestyle that consists in dry foods. Our water need would require another article as it depends on multiple factors. You can educate yourself about it from the resources of this article. Even though we’re conditioned to believe it's safe to drink tapwater, there’s more to the story. Water is needed in the body for itself, not for inorganic compounds. Compounds from agricultural fertilizers, chemical industries, pesticides and homes pollute our waters. Purification systems only eliminate bacteria, not inorganic minerals. Purification systems add inorganic compounds such as chlorine and fluoride. Inorganic minerals are non-usable, as the body can only use organic minerals such as the ones in plants. The body must expend considerable energy to eliminate inorganic minerals. The ones that are not eliminated have multiple negative effects: they’re deposited in our joints, muscles, interstitial spaces and lymphatic system. Also, they combine with body fluids, oils and wastes and form compounds that cake our vascular system. A better option might be distilled water, as the process of distillation, eliminates inorganic minerals, leaving only the water. You can make sure your distilled water is truly pure by doing your own distillation. Thus, How about dry foods, after all? In this case - we can eat more fruits so we have a water intake from the water surplus from fruits, - we can drink distilled water that’s harder to use than the water in fruits, - we can drink spring water that has inorganic minerals and eventual compounds from pollution, - we can drink potable water that in addition to the initial inorganic minerals, has inorganic minerals that come from the purification process. I hope these facts clarified the curiosity about the digestion of dry-foods. Seeds are not designed to be food. # What is food? Why do plants invest a lot of energy to include seeds in sweet fruits? Even though plants don't want to be eaten, they want to reproduce. Plants invest a lot of energy to create sugar in fruits to make the fruits sweet, to entice animals to eat the fruit and leave the seeds on the ground. This reproduction strategy is an example of the win-win scenario: - Plants ensure their reproduction need with the help of animals - Animals ensure their nutrition need with fruits. Are you sure fruits are good regarding fat intake? Don't worry. There's no excess fat in fruits, as they contain the optimal proportions of fat, protein, sugar. Hunger is a current worldwide problem despite the fact we consider ourselves a civilised society. So, How can we ensure enough fruits for everyone? Here's an interesting fact: Fruits need less land than animal products. So eating fruits is a solution not a problem. Plus, How about we plant some fruit trees to solve the hunger problem once and for all. # How many animals are eager to eat chili pepper? I don't know and i don't think there are enough to create competition. How is chilli pepper plant (another member of the nightshade family) sure it reproduces? Don't worry, there’s no competition for the bird that's adapted to eat chilli. This is another form of the win-win scenario: The chilli pepper plants are sure they ensure their reproduction need, as one species of birds will surely ensure its nutrition need by eating chilli peppers, since it’s competition-free. What's the species adapted for chilli? That’s not my business. My business is the food for which i'm adapted. The same goes for other plants: some fruits aren't optimal for us, as they're optimal only for some animals. What other plants are part of the family? Eggplant, Potatoes, Tomatillo, Goji Berries, Pimentos, Peppers (Bell, Chili, Paprika, Cayenne), Tomatoes. On a live-food lifestyle, we're only really talking about red bell peppers and tomatoes. The natural pesticides produced by all nightshades have negative health effects also for us, as they don't differentiate between pests and humans. No wonder why some people have leaky gut and other digestive problems. Even though tomatoes and bell peppers pass the test, the negative health effect of their natural pesticides still exists. When optimal health is our goal, we can avoid negative health effects. How many negative health effects can we avoid without information about negative health effects? I don't know and i don't think we can avoid enough. I share what's optimal and what’s not, as complete information can enhance someone's health. You’re still totally free to eat whatever you want. # Resources: [water](https://youtu.be/09XutxcIlJk), [2](https://www.rawfoodexplained.com/water/sources-of-pure-water.html), [3](https://www.rawfoodexplained.com/perfect-health-part-i/the-importance-of-pure-water.html), [hydration](https://youtu.be/FNoDDmQpiRE), [seeds](https://youtu.be/M2tWOkerFbs), [nuts](https://youtu.be/LvxmbmtsSKQ), [2]( http://www.raw-food-health.net/listofnuts.html), [peanuts](http://www.raw-food-health.net/Raw-Peanuts.html), [sprouts](https://youtu.be/ReD_yjRCqWk), [2](https://youtu.be/CC0g58C5VSc), [fat](http://www.raw-food-health.net/LowFatDiet.html), [food](https://youtu.be/FJrBtGnNgds), [2](https://youtu.be/fjGqpp4LHpw), [3](https://www.rawfoodexplained.com/carbohydrates/fruit-the-ideal-food.html), [Hive](https://hive.blog/trending/hive-130191) community For people who like the messenger function, here's a [MeWe](https://mewe.com/join/simplefood4optimalhealth) community, in which you can also find resources in the form of files. So it's good to know that: - optimal food is not all the raw-foods available for sale. Just as, - optimal food is not all the food available for sale (meat, dairy, etc.) Seeds are not optimal food, despite the fact some of them are edible in their natural form (e.g. sunflower seeds). So it's good to know that: - optimal food is not all the foods that are edible in their natural form. Hello awesome people. Welcome to another article about optimal food. These days we're encouraged to be more responsible in the name of health. Optimal food can help us have optimal health. Fortunately, we can find what’s optimal food with a simple test: - Would we eat this food in nature? Previous articles: [1](https://peakd.com/health/@askmihai/what-is-optimal-food), [2](https://peakd.com/health/@askmihai/what-is-optimal-food-2), [3](https://peakd.com/health/@askmihai/what-is-optimal-food-3), How about we explore even more foods and see how many will pass the test. # Haw about garlic? Some people believe it's healthy food because it kills bacteria. How about good bacteria? The antibiotic compounds don’t differentiate between good and bad bacteria. So Why would we want its antibiotic effects? Knowing what food is optimal is simple, because nature is amazing: - Our body warns us when we eat food that has negative effects on our body. - Our body rewards us when we eat food that has positive effects on our body. Our body enjoys food that's optimal for our body. This is great news: food that tastes great (without any complication) is good for optimal health. Simple pleasure is the key to health. Isn't this great? The more we complicate ourselves with processing food, the less natural we make it. So Why would we complicate ourselves with creating food that's not even healthy? Taste is a good indicator for optimal food. However, we cancel the warning function of our taste - by adding spices and other stuff to foods that we wouldn't eat in their natural form, - by eating unnatural food that tastes great thanks to processing, - by cooking food. The taste test is simple: When we can't enjoy a plant in its natural form, this is the body telling us"NO!". The smell test is pretty simple as well: When a plant makes us sneeze, this is the body telling us"NO!". The foods we're meant to eat won't bother our taste / smell. Speaking about enjoyment, some people say: >I enjoy meat (or any other food that requires preparation) How many grams of meat that you can eat without cooking them are there in nature? I don't know and i don't think there are enough. When we can't eat a food in its natural form then, How natural is that food? I don't know and i don't think it’s natural enough. Thanks to spices and other compounds, nonsweet processed foods such as meat offer us the impression of great taste, when in fact we wouldn't be able to eat meat without spices that are not even natural. How many garlic cloves can you enjoy at one meal? i don't know and i don't think you can enjoy enough to feel satiated only from them. Why can't we enjoy a meal of garlic? Our body doesn't enjoy it because it's not optimal for our body. So Why would we consider eating it in the first place? People consider eating garlic for its medical properties, such as lowering cholesterol. The importance people place on medical plants (aka herbs) comes from a medical approach. Speaking about herbs, # How about herbs? First of all, What’s the medical approach? People believe a compound (a plant, a herb, a medicine) is a health compound just because it solves the symptom of a health problem. - Disease is not caused by lack of compounds (e.g. garlic) that work on the symptom (effect). - Disease is caused by lack of good compounds (nutrients) from optimal food or by negative compounds from bad food. The food we eat is a component of our lifestyle. Medical compounds don't change our lifestyle that caused the health problem in the first place. While we work on the surface (on the effects), we allow the underlying cause to continue and we allow it to get compounded. There is a reason we can't enjoy garlic (or other herb) in its natural form. The body tells us this food contains compounds that have negative effects on our body. Working on the effect vs working on the cause - it's up to you to decide which approach is better. This article is not for people who like to live superficial (on the surface) lives, that are also complicated thanks to complicated food. Plus, physical health is not even a growth need. When we turn bad food into the purpose of our life, What are we doing? Are we living to eat bad food? Are we destroying our health with food? What a pitiful way to live. Great news for people who like to work on the cause: It's pretty simple to know how we can work on the cause. The best defence against disease is a healthy body. - We can build a healthy body with proper nutrients, just like - We can build a strong building with proper materials. The food that's useful for building a healthy body is food that our body enjoys in its natural form. Our health depends on the nutrients of our food that in turn depend on multiple factors, that you already know from a [previous](https://peakd.com/health/@askmihai/how-can-we-keep-our-health-simple-update-2) article. For healthy people the only medicine that makes sense is optimal food, as it has - Positive compounds i.e. nutrients, - No negative compounds i.e. toxins. I don't have medical studies so i'm not qualified to give advice to unhealthy people who are under medical treatment. Only your medical doctor can give you medical education about your medicine. The medicine business won't bother with changing your unhealthy lifestyle (the cause of disease) as - changing lifestyles is hard, as people are afraid of change, especially when it comes to changing their much loved food, because they value taste over health. - it's not their business to help you with the cause of your problem. Their business is to maximize profits. Your health is your business. People believe herbs are food because herbs are plants that exist in nature. Here are some facts about our reality (which is where we live): Not all plants that exist in nature are optimal for us. E.g. tobacco (a plant from the Solanaceae / nightshade family that exists in nature) is toxic to us. What's up with toxins? Why do plants create toxins? E.g. nightshades produce natural pesticides called glycoalkaloids as a first line of defense against pests. The natural pesticides produced by these plants defend the plant from pests by damaging their cell membrane. # What’s the compound effect? Our consistent results are the compound effect of what we do consistently. - success is the compound effect of positive effects/results of constructive daily actions - a small life is the compound effect of negative effects/results of destructive daily actions The compound effect is always at work in the background whether we notice it or not. We either compound negative effects or positive effects. - optimal health is the compound effect of positive effects of healthy compounds - health problems are the compound effect of negative effects of unhealthy compounds When we consume negative compounds once in a while, the negative effect is still gonna be there and it gets compounded. Just because we have no symptoms, it doesn't mean that the negative effect doesn't get compounded. Food should feed us, not harm our health. How many reasons to eat food that harm our health are there? I don't know and i don't think there are enough. So, when optimal health is our goal, we can avoid negative health effects. How many negative health effects can we avoid without information about negative health effects? I don't know and i don't think we can avoid enough. I share what's optimal and what’s not, as complete information can enhance someone's health. You’re still totally free to eat whatever you want. Garlic didn't pass the test. There are multiple pungent plants: horseradish, onion, cayenne pepper, chilli pepper, black radish, etc. How many pungent plants that pass the test are there in nature? I don't know and i don't think there are enough. Some unnatural foods pass the taste test because thanks to high amounts of refined sugar, some of them are sweeter than fruits. No wonder why - people go from eating natural food to eating unnatural food. - many people even become addicted to unnatural food. Parents offer their children unnatural food. No wonder why parents have to force food on their throat. The biggest tragedy is that over time children are conditioned by people around them to eat unnatural food. The unnatural movement is so extreme that for some children eating is a stressful experience in which they are scolded for not eating, when in fact children don't enjoy that food because it's not our specific food. The unnatural food movement is so extreme that for many people the taste is so perverted that they can't enjoy our natural food. # Resources: [garlic](http://health101.org/art_garlic), [2](https://www.rawfoodexplained.com/junk-foods-garlic-and-onions/are-onions-and-garlic-a-food.html), [medical approach](https://www.rawfoodexplained.com/introduction/discussion-of-the-medical-approach-to-health-and-disease.html), [2](https://www.rawfoodexplained.com/the-dangers-of-drug-medication/what-do-drugs-do.html), [3](http://health101.org/art_cancer.htm), [herbs](https://www.rawfoodexplained.com/why-herbs-should-not-be-used), [feeding children](https://www.rawfoodexplained.com/weaning-the-infant/feeding-children.html), [2](http://health101.org/art_rv_children), [3](http://health101.org/art_Adult_Diseases.htm), [food](http://health101.org/art_RV2), [Hive](https://hive.blog/trending/hive-130191) community. Spring has arrived here in Bulgaria, so it seems. And obviously spring in Bulgaria is like summer in Northern Germany ^^ It's been super warm and sunny and beautiful the last three days, the birds are singing, the little bugs and butterflies are coming back, and I've seen the first little buds and blossoms on the trees and shrubs. When it's so nice and warm and sunny, I really can't get myself to sit inside and work on the computer. Fortunately I don't have to :-) So I moved my "work" to the terrace and did a little analog painting, which I haven't done in a while (I'm making mostly digital art lately). I had started this painting a few weeks ago, and as you can see, I had a huge need for blue ^^ I really believe, that colors do something to us and our feelings. And sometimes I just feel, that a certain color would help me, to raise my mood or bring me back towards my center. Blue is a color that always calms me down. It's deep and open, like the ocean or the sky. And lately I feel, that I need more blue in my life, maybe as a counterbalance to all the changes and challenges of the troubled world outside. So spending my time in the sunshine with a lot of blue felt really healthy today :-) So this is how far I got with the painting. I just started without a plan, and I still don't know where it's heading. It's just to play a bit with colors and to relax. Also I've realized that it's good for me to sometimes work with real paint on real canvas (or wood, in this case). Painting is a much more sensible and slow this way, because the paint needs to dry and I have to wait until I start with the next layer. Also I don't have an "undo" button, so I have to be really aware of what I'm doing ^^ I hope, there will be more days like this in the next time. I feel so recharged and relaxed! This country has really been good to me this winter, giving me a lot of sunshine, even in the coldest weeks <3 Thank you Bulgaria! *Nowadays people became more concerned about their health for sure. But there's still a gap in adopting a healthy lifestyle. It's because we keep going to the gym but forget to keep our life healthy. For example, going to the bed late at night but waking up early to join the gym or to attend work. It became a new normal to compromise with sleep.* [Image](https://pixabay.com/photos/runner-male-running-jogging-1814460/) Do you know, doing some exercise occasionally doesn't mean we are prioritizing health? Rather making healthy choices in everything makes more sense in terms of prioritizing health. It can be about food, can be our sleeping habit, or can be a digital detox. Let's discuss some of the things we should adopt to make health our priority! * Try to cover everything when it comes to health. Notice your eating habits, your working schedule, your exercise routine every possible thing so that you can adopt a healthy lifestyle. Health is not about food or exercise, get rid of this idea. And try to make your lifestyle focusing on what would be better for your health. * Don't make excuses. This one thing ruins our plan and makes us unhealthy in every way. The moment we realize excuses doesn't help us but makes it worse for us to follow our routine at that moment we can make better choices. * Checklist. Health doesn't work like you take care of it one day and the next day you don't look at it. So hitting the gym for a month and not doing anything from the next doesn't make us healthy. Make a checklist, what you need to accomplish to be healthy, and follow that. I know, it's not like we always can follow a healthy lifestyle like avoiding night parties. But we can make better choices every day. And this only can be possible if we prioritize health over anything. It can be your mental and physical health. Think about it! Hello awesome people. Welcome to another article about optimal food. These days we're encouraged to be more responsible in the name of health. Optimal food can help us have optimal health. Fortunately, we can find what’s optimal food with a simple test: - Would we eat this food in nature? Part [1](https://peakd.com/health/@askmihai/what-is-optimal-food), part [2](https://peakd.com/health/@askmihai/what-is-optimal-food-2) of the thread. Pickles are considered healthy food. # How about pickles? When you educate yourself about fermented foods, you'll find an abundance of recommendations for them. What are their effects more exactly? How many pickles are there in nature? I don't know and i don't think there are enough, so Why would we consider them in the first place? The medical approach plays a role, as some people eat fermented foods because they believe fermented foods have medical properties. People believe pickles re-establish beneficial bacteria in the intestines. There’s no evidence to support that claim. However they contain harmful bacteria byproducts, as well as the compounds that pickled the food: salt, vinegar, etc. What are their health effects? # How about salt? How many grams of salt are there in nature, in a form we'd actually consume? I don't know and i don't think there are enough. We've no need for salt of any type, as we can get all the sodium we need from our optimal food. Plus, salt has nothing to do with the sodium need of the body. Salt serves no useful purpose as it's sodium chloride from the time it enters the body until the time it can be excreted. The body cannot immediately excrete all the salt. So the body deposits salt in the body’s fluids, causing irritation to the cells that send a SOS signal for relief from the irritating compound. No wonder why we get thirsty and drink a lot of water. This water expands the volume of blood plasma, resulting in higher blood pressure and pulse rate. This in turn forces more water into tissue fluids to relieve cells from the irritating effect. Salt also draws water out of the cells. This results in excessive tissue fluids, edema. Salt has a dehydrating effect, as water in the cells is what makes us hydrated, not edema. # How about vinegar? How many liters of vinegar are there in nature, in a form we'd actually consume? I don't know and i don't think there are enough. Let's say you bite into an apple and you find it's fermented. What are you likely to do? I don’t know what you’ll do. Personally i'll spit it out and i'll look for better food to eat. That's our natural tendency. We're not naturally attracted to fermented foods. In nature, the sharp taste of the acetic acid (a component of vinegar) would let us know this compound is harmful. We're conditioned to like these foods because we're told they're good for us. People consume foods that contain vinegar because they combine them with other unnatural foods. E.g. they combine pickles with meat. The sharp taste of vinegar comes from acetic acid. What are the effects of acetic acid? Acetic acid is damaging to our digestive tract and inhibits the digestion and utilization of foods eaten with it. Digestive juices cannot penetrate pickled foods. When we can't digest food, we don't absorb nutrients. They pass right through the body in the same small chunks that entered the stomach. That's just one effect. Acetic acid has multiple negative health effects. # How about foods that are fermented without vinegar? They're just as indigestible, as acetic acid results from bacterial decomposition i.e. fermentation. People complicate themselves by adding unnatural accompaniments (pickles, salt, ground pepper, oil, vinegar, sugar, etc.) because they eat unnatural foods that can't be eaten in their natural form. E.g. we can't eat cabbage in its natural form. However, we can eat it after we add seasoning. # How about spices? When we have a natural lifestyle we don't need unnatural accompaniments, as we can eat natural food in its natural form, without unnatural accompaniments: seasonings/condiments/spices. You can even find how refined oil is by reading the label. It contains only one compound i.e. fat. We're not naturally adapted to eat fat in a concentrated form such as oil. The food we're naturally adapted to eat is the food we can eat in the form it exist in nature. Plus, do you remember the effects of excess fat from the [previous](https://peakd.com/health/@askmihai/how-can-we-keep-our-health-simple-update-2) article? When optimal health is our goal, we can avoid negative health effects. We can be free of the complication of unnatural accompaniments and their negative health effects when we eat natural food. E.g. we can eat lettuce in its natural form i.e. without accompaniments. The same goes for fruits. We can eat them as they are. When you want an accompaniment for fruits, you can wrap them in lettuce leaves. Now you have a healthy wrap. Fruits and lettuce digest perfectly together. # Haw about mushrooms? How many edible mushrooms are there in nature? I don't know and i don't think there are enough. Why aren't all mushrooms edible? Because they're toxic for us. There is a level of toxicity in all mushrooms. That's why we have to cook the ones that are considered edible. # How about olives? How many edible olives are there in nature? I don't know and i don't think there are enough. Why can't we eat olives straight from the olive tree? Olives are not edible in their natural form, because of their negative compounds (toxins). Olives have to be treated in order to be edible. They’re fermented in salt-water for 3 to 6 months. Another metod to cure them is lye-water. Then, after rinsing, the olives are soaked in vinegar brine, or fermented. Not to mention that some olives are pasteurized. # Complete information All the recommendations for fermented foods made me be interested in these foods. Many people become interested in these foods and many people complicate themselves with creating foods that need additional compounds because they believe these foods are healthy, because they don't have information about health effects. Fortunately i found complete information. I share what's optimal and what’s not, as complete information can enhance someone's health. You’re still totally free to eat whatever you want. # What's the reason Health is not the only reason, otherwise, Why do people continue eating unhealthy foods even after finding the negative health effects? People have to be pretty addicted to unhealthy foods to continue eating them even after finding the negative health effects. What can be more important than health? People become addicted to strong-tasting food because it stimulate us. Foods that make us feel better temporarily are not necessarily healthy. Just like any other stimulus, spices create a new pleasure threshold, i.e. - we need more spicy foods to feel good. - we no longer enjoy spice-free foods i.e. our natural food. Here are some of my curiosities: - What reason do we have to resort to food (that is not even healthy) to feel good? - Why would we seek pleasure in food that's not even healthy? - Isn't the search for pleasure the effect of a deeper cause? - When we live a life in which we fulfill our goals, Why would we seek fulfillment in food? - To feel good, Why would we need food that’s not even healthy to feel good? - Isn't a thriving life a good enough reason to feel good? - Isn't optimal health a healthier reason to feel good about ourselves? - How can we thrive as long as we harm our health with unnatural foods? - Plus, when we enjoy our life, Why would we seek enjoyment in food that’s not even healthy? - How many reasons are there to harm our health despite having access to foods that benefit our health? I don't know and i don't think there are enough. # Healthy mindset There are communities around the idea of growth mindset. How many growth needs can we meet when we don't even meet our basic need of health? What kind of mentality do we have when we don't even want to meet our basic need of health? Lack of fulfillment leads to a feeling of lack. When we try to fill lack of fulfillment with food, the feeling of lack will continue to exist in the background and it will continue to get compounded. Wouldn't we be healthier when we experience fulfilment from fulfilling your goals? Isn't optimal health a good goal, especially in our current times in which we have access to optimal food? Only our mindset can stop us from eating the healthiest food i.e. the food we're naturally adapted to eat. Here's a song that might be relevant to this subject: [Don't believe the hype](https://youtu.be/9vQaVIoEjOM); from Public Enemy. The name of the band is also relevant for our times, as the wise person is an enemy in a mediocre society, as the mediocre person is bothered by education. You already know my opinion about influencers and the hype they create from [a previous chapter](https://3speak.co/watch?v=askmihai/pwqlaugs) # Resources: [fermented foods]( https://youtu.be/CC0g58C5VSc), [2](https://www.rawfoodexplained.com/fermented-foods/the-myths-of-fermented-foods.html), [condiments, seasonings and spices](https://www.rawfoodexplained.com/condiments/condiments-seasonings-and-spices.html), [salt](https://www.rawfoodexplained.com/condiments/salt.html), [2](https://youtu.be/ds3cRQPxujA), [oil](https://www.rawfoodexplained.com/fats/are-we-oil-and-fat-eaters.html), [2](http://www.raw-food-health.net/RawOliveOil.html), [fruits](https://youtu.be/cWzxaIPkobo), [Hive](https://hive.blog/trending/hive-130191) community. MeWe is a social media with no ads that also has messenger function. # Bottom line - Sauerkraut and other fermented foods that don't exist in nature, - Salt, pepper, oil, vinegar, and other accompaniments we wouldn't eat in nature, - Mushrooms and other plants we wouldn't eat in their natural form, - Olives and other fruits we wouldn't eat in their natural form, These are exemples of foods that don't pass the test, despite the fact they're considered natural/healthy. So it's good to know that: - optimal food is not all the foods advertised as being natural/healthy. Just as, - optimal food is not all the foods that are advertised (meat, dairy, etc). Hello awesome people. Welcome to a new article about optimal food. These days we're encouraged to be more responsible in the name of health. Optimal food can help us have optimal health. Fortunately, we can find what’s optimal food with a simple test: - Would we eat this food in nature? [First](https://peakd.com/health/@askmihai/what-is-optimal-food) part of the thread. How about we explore even more foods and see how many will pass the test? # How about honey? How many kilos of honey are there in nature in a form we would actually eat? I don't know and i don't think there are enough. On top of the realization that we wouldn't eat honey in nature, here are more facts: Honeybees kick out native pollinators. Because of that, an increased honeybee population implies a decreased native pollinators population. Honeybees aren't the best pollinators. Other types of bees and insects do a much better job. Plants need native pollinators for pollination, not honeybees. Less pollination affects everything, as everything that happens on our planet requires plants that come from pollination. My curiosity is this: Do we really need honey? We wouldn’t eat honey in nature, so Why would we consider it? People believe they need honey because they complicate themselves with recipes that require sweeteners. And in an attempt to live a healthier life, they replace sugar with honey. People believe honey is a healthy choice because it comes from nature, after appropriate processing. Sugar (that also comes from nature after appropriate processing) provides even less energy than honey. That's just one fact to consider when it comes to healthy choices. There are multiple facts to consider about honey and other natural concentrated sugars that you can find in the resources of this article. Also, the need for a sweetener shows that we don't live the healthiest life, as we don't need sweeteners to eat our optimal food i.e. the healthiest food. An optimal life is also the simplest life, as we don't need to complicate with recipes (nor with sweeteners) to eat our optimal food. Not to mention animal cruelty involved in the honey industry. Why is cruelty the last argument i mention? Interacting with people i noticed they don't really care about animals. They only care about themselves. So people might be more inclined to be mindful about what the’re doing when they know in what way their behaviour affects **them**. This might explain why the vegan community is so small. Vegans try to convince people to give up animal products by appealing to people’ care for animals, - care that exists only for their pets, - care that's nonexistent for the animals they consume. There are many foods that are advertised as natural, despite the fact we wouldn't eat them in their natural form. The reason we wouldn't eat honey in nature is that honey doesn't exist in nature in the form we find it in stores: honeybees make it so they can feed larvae and feed themselves when they don't have access to flowers. We find it in stores because we exploit honeybees to take their honey that isn't produced for us. Are you sure a plant-based lifestyle is better than the common lifestyle? Don't worry. There's no cruelty and it's healthier. Because of that, the plant-based movement makes sense. Still, saying that a plant-based lifestyle is healthier than the common lifestyle is a half-truth. Actually, the accuracy of this half-truth depends on multiple factors. E.g. the proportion of plant-based cooked food: the more plant-based cooked food we eat, the more negative health effects we have. Another factor is the type of cooked food, as some cooked foods are healthier than others. The other half of the story is that a lifestyle of only plant-based live food is healthier than a lifestyle that also consists in plant-based cooked food. People can remain to plant-based cooked foods when they don't have information about their negative health effects. E.g. many years i went through the hassle of cooking plant-based foods because of incomplete information. In that period of time i didn't know cooked food is not even necessary. That's why i believe complete information can help people avoid the unnecessary hassle of cooking food. Complete information can also help people avoid unnecessary health problems caused by the negative health effects of cooked food. I share what's optimal and what’s not, because complete information can enhance someone's health. You’re still totally free to eat whatever you want. # Omnivore vs vegetarian vs fruitarian There is an epic debate between omnivores and vegetarians. Omnivores believe our lifestyle should include animal products. There is an even bigger debate between vegetarians and fruitarians. Vegetarians believe we need beans, grains, roots, all leaves available for sale. Some people defend their belief with variety. They say: > Eat the rainbow. All vegetables available for sale are good. What do you think about this argument for including all vegetables in our optimal food? It's true that variety is good, as a variety of colors implies a variety of nutrients. Still, Let's suppose you're in nature. Since you're in nature, multiple foods are not even part of the discussion: - Cheese, burgers, sausages, milk and other animal-based processed foods, - Vegan cheese, vegan burgers, vegan sausages, vegan milk and other plant-based processed foods, - A jar of honey, refined sugar, and other sweeteners, - Pickles, spices, seasonings, ground pepper, fine salt, oil, vinegar, paprika, mustard, etc. - Raw crackers, raw-vegan burgers, and other dehydrated raw-foods, - Raw-vegan cakes, raw-vegan cookies and other raw-vegan desserts, - Juices, smoothies, In nature you have access to: - Animals e.g. marine animals, chickens, ducks, pigs, rabbits, turkeys, geese, sheep, goats, cows, calves, rodents, pigeons, buffaloes, dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, mules, camels. - Beans, soy, grains, wheat, rice, edible seeds (sunflower seeds), - Mushrooms, Edible roots e.g. carrots, - Leaves: cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, collard greens, spinach. - Fruits that are inedible in their natural form: an olive tree, chili pepper, etc - Fruits that are edible in their natural form: a banana tree, etc. Since you're in nature, the only way to feed yourself is to eat food in its natural form. I.e. - You can drink cow's milk, goats' milk, etc. as long as you drink it right from the source. - You can eat eggs as long as you can eat them in their natural form. - You can enjoy the chicken flesh you bite from a dead chicken. Supposedly, you killed it. - You can enjoy the pig flesh you bite from a dead pig. Supposedly, you managed to kill it. - You can enjoy beans, soy, grains, wheat, rice, seeds, mushrooms, roots, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, collard greens, spinach, olives, chili pepper, in their natural form. The food we can't eat in its natural form is food for which we're not adapted. Now we have access to: - Food for which we're adapted. - Food for which we're not adapted. Seriously, Which food would you choose? I hope this is a good enough way to solve the dilemma of being omnivore vs vegetarian vs fruitarian. My go-to foods are foods for which we're adapted. Be my guest, show me a better alternative to food for which we’re adapted. In spite of all the negative health effects of cooked food, many people recommend plant-based cooked foods. What's up with these conflicting views? How many people who know the negative health effects of cooked food are there? I don't know and i don't think there are enough, otherwise Why do so many people recommend plant-based cooked food? How come we don't have education about optimal health after 12 years of education? Who regulates the education system? Our leaders regulate the education system. Nowadays, they invest many resources for health. Imagine how many health problems we can prevent with education about optimal health? How come they don't include education about optimal health in the education system? # Resources: [honey](https://youtu.be/AvV_vGFJa6s), [2](https://youtu.be/NpEpaI3RHkk), [3](https://youtu.be/E0N8UYgMGDQ), [4](https://www.rawfoodexplained.com/sugars-and-other-sweeteners/more-about-honey.html), [sweeteners](https://www.rawfoodexplained.com/sugars-and-other-sweeteners/refined-sweeteners.html), [advertising](https://youtu.be/X08upzdwejg), [education*](https://youtu.be/sNXHSMmaq_s), [2](https://youtu.be/ZMxbPZvxftI), [leadership](https://youtu.be/xbUE1nrDMtY), [2](https://youtu.be/ocfyQcrwfK0), In this [resource](https://www.adaptt.org) you can see how many marine animals, chickens, ducks, pigs, rabbits, turkeys, geese, sheep, goats, cows, calves, rodents, pigeons, buffaloes, dogs, cats, horses, donkeys, mules, camels have been killed worldwide by the meat, egg, and dairy industries since you opened the webpage.
