It’s time to get back to the discussion of the health compounders. Previously I wrote about the Spirit or Emotional Intelligence Quotient. (EQ) I also mentioned the Body or Physical Intelligence Quotient (PQ) briefly. Being a personal trainer this is an area of focus so I couldn’t help skipping forward a little. Of the 4 health compounders (besides sleep) there are 2 more: What I call Special Focus and Mind or Mental Intelligence Quotient. (IQ) Because Special Focus requires fully understanding the other 3 health compounders we will be covering that last. So what is Mind? How do you take care of your mind? What if I don’t consider myself very smart? What then? And why even bother with these health compounders anyways? I believe that every success in the physical world transpires in the invisible. Change is much like the metamorphosis of the caterpillar to butterfly. It’s what’s invisible to the eye... The unconscious is where healthy change first takes place. This is the blueprint indelibly marked. From ones spirit that impulse travels to the brain in the form of thought solidifying in the form of specific beliefs and mental habit. It’s the programs we run that are running front of mind but more than naught in the background. Mindfulness is the practice of being ones self into the present. Ground ones self with the heat and now. I believe that mindfulness is the key. Awareness is the second step. Next the mind transfers the spirits drive to the action potential of the body and that is where physical results are realized. You see... it’s all a kinetic chain. If you want physical aesthetic lasting results you have got to take your Spiritual and Mental health seriously. So let’s begin our talk about ways/activities that you can do to sharpen the mind! Not only will it built resiliency I think that concentrating on mental health and acuity is of vital importance especially as this current pandemic runs its course. Follow along and we will go deeper on the subject of Mind Health. By the time your done reading about each of the health compounders you will be able to do a full lifestyle assessment on yourself. Not only that... this is also useful as a frame work to understanding how people tick, why they do what they do, and how to motivate yourself to actually physically manifest the change you want. See you in my next report! *wil.metcalfe* Fitness Entrepreneur Certified Personal Trainer @BeachReady @AdventureReady @Actifit @EveryStepCounts @OneMoreNutrition ![]() ![]()

It is found in the wild throughout tropical America as well as in subtropical areas of the American continent. This plant has spread to all tropical and subtropical areas of the world due to its ability to adapt to different soil and climate conditions, i.e. different soil and climate conditions. This crop spreads easily and bears fruit relatively quickly. Worldwide, the guava-producing countries are Pakistan, Egypt, Mexico, Bangladesh, the United States, Brazil, Colombia, Malaysia, Thailand, Peru, India, South Africa, Indonesia and the Dominican Republic. Egypt is the largest exporter of fresh guava. In the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, guava is produced in the states of Monagas, Vargas, Aragua, Carabobo, Capital District and Zulia. Zulia is one of the states with the highest production at the national level. In our country the guava has a history of ancestral cultivation since our indigenous people collected the guava for daily consumption, it was used as an important ingredient in food or it was used in the elaboration of drinks. The guava belongs to the Myrtaceae family. Its leaves are opposite, simple, elliptical to oval, from 5 to 15 centimeters long. The flowers are white, with five petals and a large number of stamens. It can be in a flowering state throughout the year. It will reach 5 to 6 meters high on average when the evergreen and leafy bush reaches its highest development. It can be productive for at least 10 years.

The fruit of the guava tree is an ovoid berry that measures approximately 4 to 12 centimeters long and 4 to 7 centimeters wide. It weighs between 30 and 225 grams. It is an aromatic fruit, with a sweet-sour taste, soft and sticky pulp. The color of the pulp is variable. It can be white, yellowish white, pink, yellow, orange or salmon. The taste of the fully ripe fruit is sweet to slightly acidic and somewhat aromatic, varying from strong and penetrating to moderate and pleasant. In the center of the guava is a mass of pulpy material where the seeds are deposited. According to this source the seeds are abundant, stony, triangular, reniform, compressed, white, light yellow or yellowish brown, approximately 3 to 5 mm long. The guava can be consumed both fresh and processed in the form of pulps, juices, jams and preserves. I particularly prepare guava jam at home. I like guava juice very thick. When I taste the fresh guava I prefer the one with the pink pulp.

It's the holy month of Ramadhan and many people around the world fast during this month. The month of Ramdhan will last for 29 or 30 days. I thought this will be a great opportunity to make this a contest and ask everyone to share what they ate at the time of "iftaar" - a time of breaking a fast. If you don't fast, you can still participate in the challenge by sharing at least 3 pictures of your breakfast. Easy? Isn't it, just remove the space between "break and fast". Use #breakfast as one of your main tags to get an entry into the contest. It can be anything, a cup of tea/coffee or whatever you eat. Here is what I had today when I broke my fast: #### Sandwich ![]() Originally posted: https://hive.blog/hive-131777/@syedumair/break-fast-challenge-day-6

You've had a hectic day. Going to classes, running up and down the sport field, trying to concentrate on studying for a test and doing your homework.... You are really tired. But what are you doing???You are lying in bed staring at the roof. You have been trying to sleep for 2 hours and the more you try and sleep the more active your brain gets. You know you need your sleep for your body to recover and recharge for the next day - you actually did listen to your teacher going on about the benefits of sleep in the Science class, but you just cannot get yourself there.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xxxWv6PM4EM O how you wish you still believed in the 'sand man' that would come and throw sand in your eyes that will make you sleepy and take you to dreamland... There are ways in which you can help your brain to come to rest and let you get the sleep you need. (This will differ from person to person but these are some general guidelines.) As a teenager, you need at least nine hours of sleep, so before you go to bed, drink something warm. A milky drink like Horlicks or warm milk is fine, but avoid drinks with caffeine like coffee and tea because the caffeine will have the opposite effect and instead of becoming calmer, it will 'wind you up'. Have a routine that you follow before you go to sleep. Something that will make you feel sleepy. Take a warm bath or read a book. Rather avoid being on your cell phone or laptop or watching TV, because the light and sound actually wakes up your brain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WxOWpCC00C8 You don't want to skip dinner, because you will not be able to fall asleep while listening to your empty stomach begging for food, but also do not eat a huge meal right before bed time. Your stomach will be too full and busy digesting the food, which can also create pain or noises. This is not always possible, but try and keep regular times in which you go to bed and when you wake up. The more your body and brain gets use to the same times, the more your 'internal clock' will work and your brain will know when it is time to sleep and when it is time to wake up. Being a teenager means that you will most probably have parties over weekends and sleep late the next morning and this will throw your schedule out, but try and not go to bed too late on the Sunday evening, which means you must not sleep too late the Sunday morning. It is good to exercise because besides from keeping you fit and healthy, it will also help you to sleep at night. Do not exercise right before bed time, because it will make your brain very active. This may sound like an impossible thing to do, but believe it or not nothing will happen to you if you do it. Switch off all your 'lifelines with society' namely your cellphone, TV, PC and games at least an half an hour before your sleep time, so that you can start relaxing and get ready to sleep. Leave your cellphone off during the night, you will not miss a lot if you do that, but at least the 'beep beep' of a message will not wake you up every now and then. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gTvEsOE_LOE We all have worries and these worries can keep us awake or wake us up during the night. It is easier said than done, but do try not to concentrate too much on your worries. There is nothing you can do about it during the night and things usually look better the next morning. If you do wake up because of things that worries you, write it down and discuss it with your parents or friends the next day. Just sharing your worries will already make you feel better. Your bedroom and the way you decorate is also important. Try and make your bedroom your 'sanctuary' where is is nice and quiet and dark so that you can get your sleep. Unfortunately all of these things are not always possible to do, or sometimes do not work and like everything else in life, each person is unique.Find the thing that helps to get you to sleep and be sure to make it your routine every night that you get a good night's rest.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QmRYcW6_v8M Originally posted: https://hive.blog/hive-122108/@alishi/sleep-better-tips-for-teens-and-all

Eating salad at least a few times a week is a very healthy lifestyle choice. It is a perfect way to combine many healthy ingredients into one meal. The beauty about salad is that you can put anything in it. You can design your salad to match your nutritional needs. This article lists foods to include in your salad to make it richer in antioxidants. Antioxidants aid in neutralizing free radicals in the body that can cause disease as well as premature aging. If you are a person who is looking to add more antioxidants to your diet, here are some things you can add to your salad to accomplish that goal. ## Spinach In addition to the traditional iceberg or romaine lettuce, add a little bit of spinach leaves. Spinach contains the antioxidants metalthionein and sulphoraphane which can aid in cancer prevention and toxin elimination. https://images.pexels.com/photos/2325843/pexels-photo-2325843.jpeg?auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb&dpr=1&w=500 ## Dried fruit Dried fruit actually contains higher concentrations of antioxidants than fresh fruit. Throw in a few dried blueberries, cranberries, or raisins for some added antioxidant punch. https://images.pexels.com/photos/3474/dried-fruits.jpg?auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb&dpr=1&w=500 ## Nuts Nuts are another good source of antioxidants. Pecans and walnuts are a good option for salads to up the antioxidant value. https://images.pexels.com/photos/1295572/pexels-photo-1295572.jpeg?auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb&dpr=1&w=500 ## Fresh Vegetables The main ingredient in many salads anyway. Many fresh vegetables are rich in antioxidants, including broccoli, any color peppers, tomatoes, and carrots. These vegetables contain vitimans C, E, and beta carotene. https://images.pexels.com/photos/1359326/pexels-photo-1359326.jpeg?auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb&dpr=1&w=500 ## Beans Another food that contains antioxidants is beans, use some red or black, or pinto beans to toss into your salad for some antioxidants. In addition, beans are one of the best sources of fiber out there. https://images.pexels.com/photos/1313643/pexels-photo-1313643.jpeg?auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb&dpr=1&w=500 Images: 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 Originally posted: https://hive.blog/hive-174578/@mazima/adding-antioxidants-to-your-salad
