Food is amazing. If only it would stay amazing once it's being digested inside of us. Anyone reading this has no doubt felt the pain or discomfort that comes with eating too much or something that didn't agree with us. I used to be in that boat nearly every meal; I've worked hard over the past year or so to find out what my "trigger" foods are, and reluctantly avoid them. It's a great way to practice mindfulness, as if you just chalk up your digestive responses as "normal", no progress will ever be made. I've also developed a system that I use for every meal nowadays, and it's done wonders for my digestion and comfort. What works for me may not work for you, but hopefully at least one of these will make a difference. __1. Before eating In the morning, drink a big bowl of hot water with lemon juice and sea salt in it.__ I started doing this about a year ago, and I can't emphasize enough how better it's made me feel ever since. Lemon juice is great for promoting healthy digestion, increasing hydration and electrolytes (which is especially important after sleep), and for ridding the body of toxins. It also stimulates the bowels, which coincides with why I use sea salt (I actually use Celtic sea salt instead of Himalayan for the higher mineral content). A sea salt flush with warm water in the morning is the of the easiest ways to get things moving inside of you, and although it may sound gross, it does wonders for your body just in terms of feeling cleansed. __2. At least ten deep breaths out through your mouth (with your exhales being longer than your inhales) before every meal.__ By taking these deep breaths, you activate your parasympathetic nervous system, which is used by the body for aiding in many things such as slowing heart rate and lowering blood pressure, but most importantly your digestive processes. When our bodies are in a sympathetic state (which can happen due to minor stresses or lack of awareness, along with much more serious provocations as well), our bodies go into a fight-or-flight mode, meaning attention is drawn away from "unnecessary" processes like digestion. Heart rate speeds up, breathing pathways are opened wider, and blood pressure rises. Thankfully, just by taking some deep breaths right before every meal, we can consciously turn on our parasympathetic nervous systems, meaning that we will undoubtedly digest our food quicker and more efficiently. I have three daily reminders set in my phone for when I generally eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and I really do think it's made a difference in how my digestion functions. __3. Keep moving after you eat.__ No, don't go workout. Not right away. But one of the worst things you can do after you eat is to lie down on the couch or in bed. Our bodies digest best when we're upright, and by putting ourselves sideways as soon as we're done eating, our food sits in our stomachs longer, which can lead to indigestion, acid reflux, and even weight gain. Low-intensity movement is great for aiding digestion after a meal; I go for a walk around the lake after dinner every night, and now have far fewer indigestion issues than I used to. Bonus method: add in prebiotics/probiotics to your daily routine, and __especially at night__. Although they sound similar, the two are actually serve different purposes: prebiotics are compounds that promote the growth of healthy bacteria inside your gut, while probiotics are the healthy bacteria themselves. Taking these with each meal does wonders for digestion, but a big hack that I've found works well is take your probiotic right before bed, when hopefully you haven't eaten for a couple hours by that point (see my recent post about sleep for more on that). Taking a probiotic on an "empty" stomach means your stomach acid levels will be lower, which translates into quicker absorption of the bacteria which then speeds up digestion. These are all pretty simple ways to make your body feel a lot better. We all eat, we all digest, but chances are it could probably be improved a bit (I know mine sure did up until recently). The better you digest, the better your life will be. If you have any other tips, please leave a comment! _"A Single Seed" is my attempt to get out one idea every day that I've learned or accumulated over the years, with the hope that it may stick in someone else's memory bank as well. The idea may be related to fitness, business, life, or philosophy, but I think you'll find that many can change domains if you wish them to. With each seed planted, a new life awaits._ Image credit: https://www.rawpixel.com/image/449048/authentic-italian-pizza Originally posted: https://hive.blog/hive-120586/@comingalive/simple-ways-to-improve-digestion

https://i.ibb.co/mNwgJjR/missing-you.jpg //Pandemic, Lockdown & Missing Someone//Lockdowns across the world means travel comes to a standstill. For some, it’s a less than ideal situation where one may not be able to see their loved ones for extended periods of times. Friends, family, and lovers will all be missed during this difficult period that has been around by the pandemic. I wanted to touch on the subject of missing someone, what happens to the body when you miss someone, are there any chemical changes and how does it all tie together into the human psyche. Let’s take a quick look into the science of missing someone you care about.//Chemicals of Love and Longing//Understanding the body when you miss someone is not an exact science but an interesting collection of reactions nonetheless. The brain is responsible is for many chemical releases in the body depending on what is experienced. When in love, it’s been shown that elevated chemical release of oxytocin, adrenaline, dopamine and a few others occur. Yet missing someone, the opposite happens and the body sees a drastic reduction in oxytocin and dopamine.//Happy Hormone//Oxytocin is a hormone that is linked to sex and close relationships between people. It flourishes when partners form loving relationships and can keep away a number physiological and mental health issues. The hormone exists in both males and females with greater presence in the latter. It’s linked with positive feedback and can experience excess and lower levels, though an excess of the hormone has not been understood in detail just yet. Lower levels in the body can cause problems in breast feeding, lower levels have also been linked to autism, other mental conditions, and depression.//Positive Neurotransmitter//Dopamine is the happy neurotransmitter that keeps the body functioning both physically and mentally. It is essential to memory, cognitive ability, motivation and mood. Excess levels of dopamine include hyperactivity, sleep deprivation, difficulty in focusing and other symptoms associated with high energy output. On the flipside, low levels of dopamine are a great cause for concern including anxiety, loss of confidence, fatigue and much more. Dopamine is important and it is for good reason that this drops in the body when the emotions of missing someone is felt.//Increasing Oxytocin//It’s a difficult time and we must make the best of our situation and care for ourselves and loved ones. To combat these reductions in happy and loving hormones, there are activities that can help to maintain or at least alleviate our spirits to stay healthy until we can meet again. Improving oxytocin levels is linked to endorphin release, an obvious direction to take is to exercise. The feeling of missing someone can also be temporarily filled with actions that are linked to companionship. Keeping oneself happy is important, pick up a hobby and share some time with your pet if there is one at home. It all helps to increase oxytocin levels in the brain for a happier time at home.//Happy Living and Waiting//Dopamine increase is linked to diet and physical activity. Working out and eating a high protein diet has been shown to promote dopamine regulation. This includes getting enough rest so that the body may stabilise and recover as it strengthens. While we might spend time indoors a lot, it’s important to remember that enjoying someone sunshine is important too. Take a step out and enjoy some sun, Vitamin D is also an important hormone that helps to release the happy neurotransmitters. These all seem like basic lifestyle changes that won’t fill the void of worry and missing someone, and that’s true. But looking after ourselves through a healthy routine and doing things together, even if it’s online will help to chip away at those feelings of missing someone while keeping our bodies and minds healthy. Until, it’s time to meet again. *In this video I showed a cool place next to my house and said my opinion about the quarantine.* > I already shared today this post about how awesome is the nature : [The nature in the Russian south !]() But, the video can show you more and make you feel that even better. I mean the nature is really healthy and now sick at all. I don't see any virus arround. I asked all people I know and no one is infected and they don't know infected people as well. It's strange to read about the virus everywhere. It's strange that the governments are pushing so many people to stay home, even those who need to get out to work. I don't know about the country you live in, but in Russia people are not getting free money in this hard time. Most of people are using their savings to survire. There are a few who get some support and that was about $200, but that's not a lot for people who pay that only for living, food and bills. Anyway I'm using my savings and I'm even sending a big part to my mother who is not working right now, because she is not alllowed. Their store is closed because the quarantine. *I think when people have difficulties in their lives, they became afraid from dying from hunger, more than they are afraid of a virus. There are a lot of diseases more people are dying from. But, no one is talking about those people. It's not shared. No one is making us afraid of other illnesses. There are more dangerous ones that can kill even immediately like a heart attack for example.* I think we are all tired to hear about this. We all want to live as usual. I think we can take care of ourselves. *Anyway, it's a hard topic to talk about.* ### Stay healthy and don't be afraid. Take all precautions needed, but don't let the fear control you ! ---- ▶️ DTube ▶️ BTFS Originally posted: https://hive.blog/hive-196037/@clixmoney/hpt8m79rm1m

_**Scientific name: Solanum lycopersicum.**_ Tomato is one of the most cultivated vegetables in the world. Among its main nutritional properties, stand out that they have a high content of water, low in carbohydrates, calories and rich contributions of fiber, vitamins and minerals. Today, tomatoes are one of the most consumed vegetables, their particular and unique flavor, make it the main ingredient in salads, we can also consume it alone, in stews or processed by the industry. Whenever I go shopping, I choose some tomatoes, for me, it is an indispensable vegetable in my house. I have noticed an increase in weight, and I decided to improve my diet, like a lot of salad and the tomato is my main ingredient along with cucumber, cabbage and lettuce. Hello everyone... ___ Nothing really happening much as of today once I woke up. As usual was looking on some updates of what my assets were going through. Has my portfolio doubled or tripled! Well, it did not, as today is probably not the day of getting to witness some pump on the assets that I am holding. Either way we saw some pump in BTC today as this might be a sign for the halving of BTC which will happen pretty soon. While lets enjoy the ride for now. ___ Talking about tasks, I prepared SALAD today, nothing fancy but just some healthy food to meet the diet in the month of Holy Ramadan. As the consume of junk foods has decreased a lot over the past two months. Thanks to quarantine and it is helping our health very much positively that I must say. ___ ![]() Originally posted: https://hive.blog/hive-148441/@rehan12/staying-healthy-eating-healthy
